I shot these a while back for a friend, Liisa Orgna;
Layered identity - peeling away the mirage of familiarity “I see walls and coverings as analogous to humans and clothes, both having layers to be peeled away to reveal structural identity. As a wall and its coverings are ‘vulnerable’ to damage from the atmosphere and the passage of time, so I am vulnerable to misunderstanding as my clothes are misread in relation to my cultural reality.”
While every bit of peeling, crack or layer in our appearance tells us a different story, they can also tell us “we are similar/the same’. They are comparable to chapters in our lives. It reveals something we don’t know yet or have long forgotten. Memories have a strong emotional value that form our personality, and our appearance - our choice of clothes - though we might not see that unless we don’t get to know that person
